OECD Statistics
If anybody wants to find some statistical information about the country he's living in, as long as it's a OECD-member, go here (in french and english). Choose the country you're interested in, then "Statistics" and then "OECD statistical profile". What is very intersting, once again, is to compare the unemploymet rates of some countries. It's simply breathtaking. Remember Jacques Chirac accusing the "anglo-american capitalist system" of being inhuman and cruel? At least, the US and the Brits are able to keep their unemployment rate at 6% and 5% respectively, whereas the social welfare states of France and Germany are dancing on levels of 9.4 % and 9.6% (data is for the year 2003)... It's really time for some change in those two countries. Oh btw, Switzerland is at 4.2%. |
