Palestinian Absurdities

Qorei calls on foreign powers to stop Israeli attacks
(AFP)

24 September 2005

RAMALLAH, West Bank - Palestinian prime minister Ahmed Qorei called on Saturday on the international community, particularly the United States, to push Israel to stop the escalation of violence in the Palestinian territories.

“We call on the international community, the quartet and the American administration to intervene to put a stop to the Israeli escalation,” Qorei told reporters in Ramallah.

Qorei condemned Israeli air strikes on the Gaza Strip as “very dangerous” after Israel carried out raids in response to militant rocket attacks.

“The situation is very bad. Israel continues to surround Gaza, close it off and encircle a big army around Gaza. They are the ones responsible for this dangerous situation,” he told reporters in the West Bank town of Ramallah

(...)
Of course, it's an Israeli provocation. After they pulled out of Gaza, they are now still surrounding it. How dare they?

How long will it go until the "international community" condemns the "Israeli aggression"? There aren't and there won't be any clear statements about palestinian obligations. Palestinian obligations don't seem to exist. There will also be no word at all about disarming the terroristes NOW. No, let them rather take part in the elections.

For Israel there seems to be one unfortunate lesson: Never, never, never make concesisons to your arab neighbours for free. The arabs will only ask for more and make you responsible for everything they don't achieve by themselves.

Since the palestinian "authority" doesn't take care of its terrorists, Israel has to do it instead. In international politics, the basic rules are always very simple.

UPDATE (25.09.2005, 02:40): Roger L. Simon has got it right.
