Seeing today's date I knew that there was something special or historic about it: then I knew, it is ten years ago today that Yitzhak Rabin was assassinated in Tel Aviv by a jewish extremist. I remember this day (in fact it was in the evening) very well, I was deeply shocked. At that time I was young and still full of illusions. As so many, I had thought that the agreement reached between the Israelis and the Arabs was to end the hostilities. The death of Rabin was a bad omen.

In fact we know today that Rabin was certainly the victim of a despicable crime. But having reactivated the old terror gang boss Arafat is maybe one of the worst mistakes made by israeli foreign policy makers. In my view, Rabin symbolizes the old warrior really committed to peace - but who ultimately and tragically failed.
