Swiss television telling lies about Sharon
Yesterday I watched the swiss-german Television's broadcast "10 vor 10" with a report on Ariel Sharon. Of course, they wouldn't miss to suggest the old and false "Sharon-provocated-and-caused-the-Second-Intifada"-thing. Apart from the fact that they didn't mention Palestinian terrorism and its real responsible persons at all and invited an apologist of terror to comment on the issue, I am stunned that a Newsstation, which is financed through taxes (!), still spreads this pro-terrorist and arafatian propaganda to its viewers. Of course then, the whole conflict is israeli-made and it's the Israelis who in consequence have to pay for it and give compensation.
Why this view is completetly biased, is explained by Palestinian minister of communictaion Emmad El-Faluji in december 2000. I don't know whether the guy is still a minister (I guess not), but he seems to believe that his micro doesn't work or he has an ear-damage. Indeed, he screams the hell out of everybody... This however shows that the "Second Intifada" is a Palestinian initiative for which the Palestinians (and not only groups like Hamas or Islamic Jihad but also the PA and specially Arafat himself) bear the entire responsability. (Click on the image to start the video; if it doesn't work, grab it here.)
I also want to re-state here that in my view, journalists who commit themselves to this kind of flagrant disinformation and manipulation of the public in favor of terrorists are to be held responsible for the dead victims as well as suicide-bombers. They are not neutral anymore and must be considered as partial and therefore as partisans in a war. In consequence, they should be treated like anyone who is guilty of helping or harboring terrorists.
EDIT: It seems that this post is misleading to some. I do not in any way call for violence against journalists or for any sort of censorship. I - naturally - firmly oppose this. However, one must see that it is this sort of media bias that makes terrorism work. This is why certain media are morally responsible for the violence in this part of the world. In addition, journalists must understand that cameras can be weapons and that they are far from being independent observers - they are entirely involved.
