Boiling frog-day
Today is one of these Boiling frog-days. Why? The Swiss people has chosen today to once again raise the government's social expenses and to subsidize the economy through ever-harmful state aid measures. All this happens while the gap between the revenue of the state and the expenses widens, while government absorbs more and more of the economy and while the economic growth is diminishing. How come nobody realizes that national bankruptcy approaches, the only alternative being accelerated legalized robbery of the citizens through growing taxation? The development of the public debt in OECD countries. Switzerland is one of the race's leaders (source: economiesuisse): Furthermore, our socialist politicians seem to ignore one paramount statistical fact: There is a clearly observable negative relationship between size of government and long-term growth of real GDP. A 10 percentage point increase in government expenditures as a share of GDP leads to approximately a one percentage point reduction in economic growth (!): In our world, Government is given more and more tasks and a growing ability to interfere with our private lives - at the expense of individual liberty. Ronald Reagan however shouldn't be forgotten who observed that Freedom is never more than one generation away from extinction. The Swiss people has elected today to march on on this doomed Road of Serfdom. |
