To have imperial aspirations has not always been a good idea. It becomes funny though when you think that the EU considers itself to be precisely some sort of counter-weight against the capitalist and cynical "Empire" United States. Anyway, former Maoist Barroso has again underlined what the EU is certainly NOT: A preserver of its citizens' freedom in prosperity and happiness.
