Some things never change

The new year's here, but the old problems remain. International press agencies still defend palestinian terrorism and the "Palestinians" still do everything to dissuade everybody that they are capable of having a state of their own.

The Associated Press now uses the word "Martyr" when speaking of terrorists (via Backspin):

Meanwhile, chaos and anarchy still rule in Gaza: Palestinian gunmen have attacked their most valuable ally, the UN.
GAZA (Reuters) - Masked gunmen stormed into a club for UN workers in Gaza City on Sunday and blew up the drinking hall in a new sign of spiraling unrest ahead of a Palestinian election. (...)

Gunmen burst into the UN club, the only place that alcohol is served openly in conservative Muslim Gaza. It had been closed for the day. The attackers tied up the security guard and struck him with gun butts.

Then they set explosives in front of the bar, unrolled a detonator cable and blew up the charges, ripping up the roof and shattering the windows.(...)

Chaos has been increasing in the Gaza Strip since the departure of Israeli troops in September after 38 years of occupation intensified a power struggle among militant factions, gangs and security forces.

Gaza is widely seen as a testing ground for statehood.(...)
I used to be quite favorable towards a Palestinian state. I must admit though that everything tends to show that a sovereign Palestinian state would turn out to be a disaster - for the whole region. It is not even conceivable to me that "Palestine" would not be the breed of terror and islamism. Unless severely controlled, the palestinian society, having entirely rotten moral values, will always pose a real threat to Israel. The Palestinians are not only a people that missed every opportunity to have a state of their own, they have also repeatedly given evidence of their inaptitude to strive for a peaceful and civilized way of life.
